Join LICK for a field recording, sample and collage workshop which involves recording and recycling sounds

Join LICK for a field recording, sample and collage workshop, recording and recycling sounds found in Resolve Collective’s exhibition You Get A Car [Everybody Gets a Car]. Visitors are invited to make field recordings and ‘activate’ the space like a musical instrument, experimenting with sampling and audio production apps to reimagine the collected sounds. At 15.15 join an improvised sound performance, using the exhibition as a visual score to respond to.

LICK is a sound-reliant collective between artists Paula, Aous and Jon. They began working together for the monthly experimental radio show Lean In Closer on Liverpool’s independent station Melodic Distraction, mixing noises, voice notes and the occasional song and celebrating other sound artists from the North West. Since then the trio have set up the Liverpool Sound Artist Network, a social forum hosted at Metal to share ideas on experimental music and sound making in and beyond the gallery.

Tate Liverpool is temporarily located at RIBA North, Mann Island, a short distance (425m) along Liverpool’s iconic waterfront. There is step free access to the main entrance. There is a lift to the first floor gallery, or alternatively you can take the stairs.

  • Toilets are located on the first floor
  • The nearest Changing Places toilet is located at the Museum of Liverpool
  • Ear defenders are available to borrow. Please ask a Visitor Engagement Assistant

Additional seating is also available. Please ask a member of staff if you require assistance.
