Tate Modern Lates celebrates the work of Anthony McCall with an exploration of light and film

Performance: Celeste x Anthony McCall - Sold out

Location: South Tank, Blavatnik Building, Level 0
Time: 19.00–20.00 and 20.30–21.30

Catch an exclusive collaboration between singer-songwriter Celeste and artist Anthony McCall. For one night only the artists takeover the South Tank with a theatrical performance blending music, film and light. Celeste will perform her latest work alongside McCall’s Projector.

*Each performance requires a free ticket, available to book online here from 14.00 on 28 June, on a first-come first-served basis

Films and Conversation: Illuminating the Invisible with Somesuch - Sold out

Location: Starr Cinema, Natalie Bell Building, Level 1
Time: 19.30–20.30 and 21.00–21.30

Join Somesuch to delve into immersive filmmaking with a programme exploring light and motion, featuring screenings from Caleb Femi, Duncan Loudon and Tajana Tokyo. The screening at 19.30–20.30 will be accompanied by conversations with the artists.

Head to Corner Café for DJ sets from Giggs Kgole and Roberta Cutolo alongside a menu that supports local growers and produce.

Meet your next creative collaborator and find new connections with fellow visitors at Swatch Social, our dedicated social space. Join artist Elena Ooijman for Parachute Games After Dark. Decorate giant parachutes, take part in collective breathing and movement sessions and play parachute games together.

Workshop: Design Dream Light Sculptures with Originary Arts

Location: Natalie Bell Building, Level 4
Time: 18.00–21.30

Join Originary Arts’ Nikki Shaill to play with paper, shapes and shadows and make your own model of an imagined light sculpture. Model making is one of McCall’s essential steps as he works on finalising ideas. Fold, cut and stick to design a dream sculpture that you can bring to life with a phone torch light.

Film: Anthony McCall – Five Minute Drawing

Location: Blavatnik Building, Level 4
Time: 18.00–21.30

In McCall’s film the artist performs his Five-Minute Drawing. Films will be played on a loop.

Talks: 10 Minute Talks

Workshop: Tate Draw

Location: Starr Foyer, Natalie Bell Building, Level 1 and Blavatnik Building, Level 3

Corner

Location: Natalie Bell Building, Level 1

Join us at the Corner for drinks and DJ sets all night.

Drinks also available in the Terrace Bar on Blavatnik Building Level 1, and the Espresso Bar on Natalie Bell Building Level 3.

All Tate Modern entrances are step-free. You can enter via the Turbine Hall and into the Natalie Bell Building on Holland Street, or into the Blavatnik Building on Sumner street.

There are lifts to every floor of the Blavatnik and Natalie Bell buildings. Alternatively you can take the stairs.

Fully accessible toilets are located on every floor on the concourses.

A multi-faith and contemplation room is available in the Natalie Bell Building on Level 4, off room 2 of the Materials and Objects display. This is a designated space for worship and prayer, as well as quiet and reflection. All are welcome to use these spaces.

Tate Modern Lates will feel different to a regular day at the gallery. Here’s what to expect:

  • Our security team will be checking bags when you arrive
  • There will be bars serving alcohol in the Turbine Hall, on the Level 1 Bridge, in the Terrace Bar on Level 1 of the Blavatnik Building and in the Corner Cafe on Level 1 of the Natalie Bell Building
    • For purchasing alcohol you may be asked to show ID to prove you are over 18
  • Gallery spaces and concourses will be busier than usual
  • There will be music in the Turbine Hall, South Tank, Corner Cafe and Terrace Bar with amplified sound, these areas will be busier than usual
  • You are welcome to take time out in our quiet room, which is available with chairs and a panic alarm through Room 7 in the Materials and Objects display, Natalie Bell Building, Level 4
  • Magnifiers and coloured overlays will be available at making workshops
  • Ear defenders can be borrowed from the Ticket desks
