Unlock Tate Britain’s history and architectural secrets in our Architecture Tour

Surviving both war and flood damage and built on the site of the former Millbank prison, explore the rich history and architecture of Tate Britain. Learn about the construction and design of Tate Britain from nineteenth-century neo-classicism, the postmodern extension of the Clore Gallery and the transformation of the oldest part of our Grade II listed building through the Millbank Project.

Places are limited and we recommend booking in advance.

You can also enjoy a Tate Modern Architecture Tour.

Tate Britain's Manton Entrance is on Atterbury Street. It has automatic sliding doors and there is a ramp down to the entrance with central handrails.

Accessible and standard toilets are located on the lower floor. Changing Places toilets are currently not available at Tate Britain.

To help plan your visit to Tate Britain, have a look at our visual story. It includes photographs and information of what you can expect from a visit to the gallery.
