Dining

Our menu changes seasonally to celebrate produce picked at its peak - with added inspiration from the art and artists in our collection.

This Spring-Summer we're celebrating the Expressionists and have added some of the best-loved German dishes to our set menu including specialities from Bavaria, Rhineland and Black Forest, along with a selection of German wines.

We do our best to accommodate walk-ups, but booking is highly recommended.

Expressionists Lunch

See the exhibition then enjoy an expressionist-inspired lunch menu in the Restaurant afterwards with stunning views of St Paul’s and across the City.

Our chefs are bringing three new dishes inspired by the Expressionists to our menu in The Restaurant and can be enjoyed with a selection of German wines.

A Bavarian white sausage has been developed in collaboration with our butcher, HG WALTER. We wanted to recreate an authentic German white sausage using local ingredients. The sausage is made with English pork and veal, mustard, ginger, mace lemon, parsley, with a natural hog casing.

The German inspired sauerkraut has been developed in collaboration with CULTJAR, it is made with white cabbage, black pepper, juniper, and carraway then fermented for 1 month. It will be served at room temperature as it is not pasteurised and contains live bacteria and by doing so maintains its pro-biotic benefits

Try our new cocktails inspired by ‘Expressionists: Kandinsky, Münter and The Blue Rider', served throughout Tate modern.

Colour Study Gimlet

Ingredients: London Dry Gin, Gooseberry Cordial, Eiswein Verjus, Lime Oil 18.25% abv

A tart and refreshing take on a classic gimlet using the juice and pulp of green gooseberries. Colour Study Gimlet was inspired by one of Wassily Kandinsky’s most famous pieces - Squares with concentric circles. We looked to replicate the artwork’s imagery directly in the drink and utilise the cocktail as the canvas.

X-Bier

Ingredients: Wild Blueberry Vodka, Lacto Bluebbery, Strisselpalt Hops, Soda 7.75% abv

A blueberry vodka soda that has been dry hopped in tank with Strisselpalt and Mosaic hops. X-Bier is a cocktail inspired by Gabriele Münter and her work “X-Bier”.

All Tate Modern entrances are step-free. You can enter via the Turbine Hall and into the Natalie Bell Building on Holland Street, or into the Blavatnik Building on Sumner street.

The Restaurant is on Level of the Natalie Bell Building. There are lifts to every floor of the Natalie Bell Building. Alternatively you can take the stairs.

  • Fully accessible toilets are located on every floor on the concourses.
  • A quiet room is available to use in the Natalie Bell Building on Level 4.
  • Ear defenders can be borrowed from the Ticket desks.
